Shia LaBeouf cemented his position as the box office king of his generation as his thriller Eagle Eye was an easy winner at theaters this weekend.
The film took in $29.2 million, according to studio estimates from box office trackers Nielsen EDI.
The haul was about $3 million more than most analysts predicted and was the 22-year-old’s fourth straight No. 1 live-action film. His films, on average, take in $87 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
Nights in Rodanthe, the romantic drama that reunited Richard Gere and Diane Lane, met most projections with $13.6 million, good for second place. The Samuel L. Jackson thriller Lakeview Terrace was third with $7 million, lifting its total to $25.7 million.
