First public appearance for Asia after Nicola’s birth!
Asia Argento and director Olivier Assayas (who directed her in “Boarding Gate“) attended the “Appaloosa” Premiere during the 3rd Rome International Film Festival held at the Auditorium Parco della Musica on October 25th.
Martin Scorsese asked Asia Argento and Mario Sesti, artistic director of the session L’Altro Cinema/Extra, to introduce and present at the Rome International Film Festival the avant-premiere screening of the restored copy of “Pandora and the Flying Dutchman“, the film directed by Albert Lewin in 1951, with James Mason, known mostly for the unforgettable performance by Ava Gardner and the magnificent photography by Jack Cardiff. The restoration was a collaboration between the Film Foundation, the Rome International Film Festival and the Franco American Cultural Fund. “Seeing this film — said Scorsese, is like entering a strange and wonderful dream”. Asia Argento, after having accepted Scorsese’s invitation, said she “accepted with enthousiasm Martin Scorsese’s proposition to support his foundation’s activities. Seeing this film, it was difficult to establish whether the real protagonist is the amorous drama between Ava Gardner’s femme fatale night-club singer and the cursed captain James Mason, or the legendary Jack Cardiff’s Technicolor”. The film was projected today, Saturday October 25th, at 11:30pm, at the Teatro Studio dell’Auditorium.
