It’ll still be a few weeks before Enchong Dee graduates from college with a degree in Political Science, but he has already started taking up Developmental Policy for his masteral studies at De La Salle University. Though he promised to prioritize his showbiz career this time around, the 21-year-old heartthrob refuses to put his education to waste by setting it aside. “Yun yung pinili kong post-graduate degree kasi first, related siya sa undergrad ko, and second, mahilig talaga ako sa politics. Yun nga lang lately nahihilig ako sa Health Science pero siguro some other time na lang, sa books na lang muna siguro,” Enchong told ABS-CBN.com after the Kapamilya Chat with his fellow Giggerboys last Friday.
Enchong has always dreamt of becoming a public servant, but he knows that he’s still not ready for such a big responsibility at this point in his life. “Actually never ko pa na-experience maging Barangay Kagawad (like Toni Gonzaga). Student Council lang nung high school. Marami ngang nagtatanong sa akin kung gusto ko daw tumakbo for a position, sabi ko ngayon wala talaga sa utak ko. But we can never tell. Given a chance, gusto ko mag-Mayor pero siyempre masyado pa akong bata for that. As for celebrities who are entering politics, wala naman masama dun as long as maganda naman yung motive nila then go. Kung may balak kang maganda for our country then maybe you’re the right person [to be elected],” he explained.
As youth role model, Enchong also spoke up about Dr. Hayden Kho’s video scandal and the constant danger of being involved in such controversies with technological advances. “Kailangan talaga ng pag-iingat. Kahit sa anong bagay naman eh. Especially sa mga artista, may konti ka lang masabi magiging issue na kaagad kahit na iba naman yung ibig mong sabihin. At sa panahon ngayon madali talagang kumalat ang mga ganyan. Mag-post ka nga lang sa Facebook alam na kaagad ng lahat. So yun, people should be responsible with their actions. Buti na lang ang Giggerboys mga kalokohang music videos lang ang ina-upload sa YouTube,” he remarked.
Meantime, Enchong is very happy with the success of his shows Your Song Presents Boystown and Komiks Presents Mars Ravelo’s Nasaan Ka Maruja? But aside from his acting stints, he is also busy preparing for Star Magic’s US concert tour next month. “Every Sunday, after ASAP, umaabot kami ng 12 midnight sa kaka-rehearse kasi so far may anim na sayaw ang Giggerboys for the event. Excited talaga ako kasi itong pagpunta ng States, first time in my life, first time with the Giggerboys, and first time with Star Magic artists. Biruin mo 40 na artista yung kasama kaya I am sure mag-eenjoy ang mga Kapamilya natin abroad,” he beamed.
When asked about his new ad with his celebrity crush Kim Chiu and rumored rival Robi Domingo, Enchong laughed before replying, “Masasabi ko lang talaga na ang Bench updated sa mga tsismis, yun lang.”
