In an intriguing star pairing, Twilight sensation Robert Pattinson is teaming with Nicole Kidman to star in Bel Ami, the film of Guy De Maupassant’s erotically charged story of ambition, power and seduction.

Multi-award winning UK theatre directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod are directing from a screenplay by Rachel Bennette.

London-based Protagonist has taken on international sales to the film.

Uberto Pasolini (The Full Monty) will produce, with Simon Fuller of 19 Entertainment acting as executive producer.The film will shoot in London and Budapest from February 2010.

Donnellan and Ormerod, whose Cheek By Jowl is widely regarded as one of the most influential theatre companies in the world, will make their feature debut with this story about a young man’s rise to the top of Parisian high society in the 1890s, via the beds of the city’s most glamorous and influential women.

In a world where politics and media jostle for influence, where sex is power and celebrity an obsession, the film has, say the producers, a contemporary relevance which should resonate with audiences worldwide.

Bel Ami is a Redwave Films production in association with 19 Entertainment, Protagonist Pictures and RaiCinema. RAI has Italian rights. All other territories will be sold by Protagonist, which has already commenced pre-sales on the film.

On the opposite sex… “I sometimes feel like when you’re talking to boys, they just hear certain keywords… But if you had a bubble above their head, they’d be thinking about game scores, masturbation and food. Following a fancy dinner and photo session, Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz were in true party mode as they hosted Yelloween at Tao Las Vegas on Saturday night (October 31).

Getting an inside look at the happenings, photos caught the “Twilight” stars dancing and chugging vodka straight from the bottle as they let loose at the Sin City Halloween fete.

According to a source on hand, Lutz ended up grabbing the mic before telling fellow revelers, “Let’s do a massive amount of shots.”

Meanwhile, Miss Greene, who was dressed as a pretty peacock, said, “It’s definitely very fun to dress up in something different. Don’t get me wrong, I love the costume – but everyday for two hours, it wears on you a little bit.”

Are you a fantasy series fan? Do you watch Legend of the Seeker? Merlin? If you know about George R. R. Martin’s series, A Song of Ice and Fire, (and even if you don’t) you should also know that the first book, Game of Thrones, is being turned into a series for HBO and the pilot is currently being filmed in Northern Ireland and Morocco. In order to interest new fans, I’ve started a site to host media about the show and about the actors involved.
