Much has been made about Oscar winner Sandra Bullock’s ties to the college town of Austin, Texas, where the star has retreated to avoid the paparazzi’s glare since her divorce from Jesse James. But on Tuesday (August 31), Bullock appeared on the “Today” show to discuss her love for New Orleans, where she has found another home.

Bullock, in her first televised interview since her split with James, told host Matt Lauer that the Big Easy has always been a comfortable place for her, somewhere she has gone often to visit, ring in the new year and most recently, the place where she finalized her adoption of son Louis.

• Pulse Writer Paul Cornell tweeted that it isn’t going into series. BBC3 instead chose a pilot they haven’t shown to the public. But he thanked the “brilliant cast, Simon and Helen at World, ace director James, for making Pulse such a great experience.”

• The Promise Formerly known as ‘Homeland‘ it is part of Channel 4′s Autumn Schedule and has its own official page. Seeing the year 2011 after the title here I’d say it’ll maybe air next January.

• Upstairs Downstairs Alun Vega spotted Claire Foy on the set this past Sunday on Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff Bay. The director is Euros Lyn.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie returned to New Orleans this weekend to mark the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Pitt was seen Friday touring homes in New Orleans’ devastated Lower 9th Ward, USMagazine.com reported.

Pitt appeared on NBC Nightly News Friday, recalling his initial reaction to the destruction.

“It was unfathomable. I mean, just — you had no idea that there were families and here,” Pitt said. “It was just wiped clean. Except for the occasional pile up of homes and — on top of homes.”

In 2007, Pitt help establish the Make It Right Project, which so far has built 34 “eco-friendly” homes in the area, with the goal of reaching 150 structures, USMagazine.com said.
