Some people read one Martina Cole novel and stop there – the books being too nasty for their taste.

So this brutish new series about London criminals based on one of her blockbusters will not please those folk who like to gaze at the pretty cottages on Midsomer Murders or the 1920s fashions on Marple.

It’s an unflinching take on the world of nasty men, prostitutes, abused women and rotten coppers. If DCI Barnaby or Hercule Poirot stumbled into Cole’s world, they would get a knife across the face, a knee in the balls and flung into the gutter – probably by one of the women.

Great news! Christina Applegate has been cast in a comedy pilot for NBC!

In recent weeks, Christina Applegate has proved to be one of pilot season’s most in-demand actresses, making headlines when she passed on such projects as Darren Star’s Good Christian Bitches pilot for ABC. The new mom’s TV credits include a starring role in Samantha Who, Jesse and long-running Fox hit, Married with Children.

Spivey (Parks and Recreation, Saturday Night Live) will serve as the project’s writer and executive producer, with Michael (SNL, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, 30 Rock), Applegate and her manager, Management 360′s Eric Kanzler, on board as an executive producer.

Applegate is repped by CAA and Management 360.

I’m so proud of my girl. It’s been just two months since it was announced that Shelley would be leaving NBC’s Days Of Our Lives and I’m just WOW right now with this news. Congrats Shelley!

Shelley Hennig (Days of Our Lives) and Jessica Parker Kennedy (Smallville) have joined the CW one-hour pilot The Secret Circle, about Cassie (Britt Robertson), who moves to a new town and discovers that not only is she a witch and part of a secret coven, but she’s also the key that will unlock a centuries-old battle of good versus evil. Hennig, repped by Gersh and Alchemy, will play the head of the witches circle who quickly befriends Cassie. Kennedy, repped by Gersh and Armada Partners, will play another member of the coven of witches.

Shelley will be playing the role of Diana Meade the head coven witch. Exciting!

The first official poster for “Midnight in Paris” was just debuted by Yahoo Movies, unfortunately Rachel is not featured. It features a still of Owen Wilson walking through the streets of Paris in combination of Vincent van Gogh’s “The Starry Night” (Sterrennacht). The poster looks promising! The full poster can be viewed in our gallery. We recently added a short on set video of Rachel and her co-stars in our media archive. Head over to our media archive, and watch the video. The movie is officially selected as Opening film of Cannes Film Festival 2011 on May 11th and will get a limited New York/Los Angeles release May 20th. Mimi Kennedy recently revealed more information on the plot in an interview. Let’s hope Sony Classics will release the official (teaser) trailer and website soon.
