Michelle recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her career, even about almost quitting, being a mum/having a family, baking and more. I personally think it’s an interesting interview and definitely worth the read because it explains a lot why “Everything Comes and Goes” was released as an EP and even why it took so long to release a solo studio album.

The Hollywood Reporter: Before we get to the heavy stuff, let me ask about something that’s occupied much of your non-music-playing time. You have chickens at your home in Burbank?
Branch: That’s right. The zoning in Burbank says I can have up to 25 chickens, we have three right now. I adopted them from a family in Long Beach whose kids are in 4-H. A friend of mine has chickens and I saw that it wasn’t as hard as I thought. I would have goats in two seconds. Eventually my goal is get a place in Ojai where I can have animals and a big garden. Just drink wine all day and hang in my garden. Wouldn’t that be a nice life? But touring is going to be interesting because I don’t have a chicken sitter.

THR: And the purpose of the chickens are eggs, clearly…
Branch: Yep. I don’t eat eggs, but I bake a lot. I think my family [husband Teddy Landau and five-year-old daughter Owen] has kind of OD’d on them. When we first got the chickens, I was making omelets every morning. Now Owen’s, like, “Can I have oatmeal please?” But I’m opening a bakery in L.A. hopefully between January and March of next year.

GK Films explores ‘Outback’ with Carey Mulligan

Gary Ross helming sci-fi actioner sent in Australian Outback

Graham King’s GK Films is headed to Oz, mounting a sci-fi action film titled “Outback” with Carey Mulligan attached to star and Gary Ross on board to direct.

Nissar Modi (“Z For Zachariah”) will write the script based on an original idea that he and Ross conceived. Tobey Maguire is set to produce along with Ross, King and his GK Films partner Tim Headington.

Producers are keeping the logline under wraps, but the story will be set in the Australian outback.

Mulligan is set to spend the summer filming Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation of “The Great Gatsby” in Australia. Thesp next stars opposite Ryan Gosling in Nicolas Winding Refn’s stylish crime pic “Drive” and opposite Michael Fassbender in Steve McQueen’s sex addiction drama “Shame.”

Ross is currently filming Lionsgate’s adaptation of “The Hunger Games.”

GK Films recently produced a trio of Johnny Depp pics — “The Tourist,” “Rango” and “The Rum Diary” — the latter of which its subsidiary FilmDistrict will release in the U.S. on Oct. 28. FilmDistrict is also releasing Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” a GK Films production, on Dec. 23. GK is currently in post-production on Martin Scorsese’s 3D adventure “Hugo,” which Paramount opens Nov. 23. Company’s upcoming projects include a feature adaptation of “Jersey Boys,” a reboot of the “Tomb Raider” franchise and an untitled biopic of Queen singer Freddie Mercury, toplined by Sacha Baron Cohen.
