To kick off the Movie section from BradPittWeb (as I’m still working on it, got so much to add!), I’ve added some stills from the upcoming movie “Cogan’s Trade”, the release is set to September 21.

Brad Pitt had such good luck when “Moneyball” was released on Sept. 23, 2011, it seems The Weinstein Company is hoping lightning strikes twice. The studio has set “Cogan’s Trade,” with Pitt in a lead role, for Sept. 21, 2012.

In the film, Pitt plays Cogan, a mob enforcer on the trail of two junkies who robbed a mob-backed card game. (You might remember how that went down for some very foolhardy thugs on “The Sopranos.”) In a nice twist, Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini, as well as mob-movie veteran Ray Liotta are on board as well.

According to Slashfilm, Gandolfini will play “a washed-up, alcoholic, hard-up-for-cash hit man who was brought on by Jackie (Pitt) to do the first job he’s done in a long time but proves to be more of a liability.”

The movie is based on the 1974 novel of the same name by George V. Higgins, who also wrote “The Friends of Eddie Coyle,” which became an underrated mob pic starring Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle.

“Cogan’s Trade” reteams Pitt with Andrew Dominik, who directed him in “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” The film also costars Richard Jenkins and Sam Shepard.

These two Irish entrepreneurs discover that a dead body can fetch a hefty price when the demands of the leading medical professors Dr. Knox (Tom Wilkinson) and Dr. Monroe (Tim Curry) reach beyond that of the local supply.

Reese Witherspoon made an appearance on her co-star and friend Chelsea Handler’s show Chelsea Lately last night, and the two chatted about their movie, This Means War, Reese’s new website and Facebook page, and Chelsea’s tweeting. It was a really funny interview! The interview has been uploaded to YouTube, but unfortunately is only viewable to those within the US. We will be keeping an eye out for a version that everyone can watch, though!
