At 28, Britney Spears has already led an incredible life. Does anyone even remember that little pop singer that appeared way back in 1999 with “…Baby One More Time?” The video was one of the most inventive of the era, and it looked as if she had a long future ahead of her. Of course, the life-cycle of a teen-pop sensation is about as brief as that of a hummingbird. But one sensed something different about Britney. At least Madonna did — she took to wearing “Britney Spears” T-shirts onstage for a while.

The fall from grace was as tragic as it was dramatic. It was also front-page news, helping to usher in the ridiculous “celeb-utainment” era we now are inundated with. So the question is, with seemingly everyone on the planet tuned into her life, what could a new Britney Spears biography possibly have to offer?

Britney Spears: Little Girl Lost by Christopher Heard gets around this problem by focusing to a large degree on Britney’s pre-fame years. This is a welcome change of pace for me, as it puts her downfall into stark context.

Linda Perry respects Britney Spears even though she “can’t stand” her music.


The songwriter – who has worked with artists as diverse as Pink, Christina Aguilera and Courtney Love – admires ’3′ singer Britney because she “believes what she is doing”.


Linda said: “You know, Britney Spears, I can’t stand her music. But you know what, right on for her, great for her, that girl is selling it because she believes it. You know? She believes what she is doing. If you can do something and believe what you are doing, we should be patted on the back, not being insulted because we don’t like what you did.”

Former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda also said she’s not interested in writing hits for artists, preferring to concentrate on getting people to sing from their hearts.


She added to Blast magazine: “To me, something meaningful and heartfelt or real isn’t a hit. It is not always a hit. It’s just, ‘Let’s do something cool. Let’s do something real.’ I don’t wanna waste my time with all this bulls**t that you can get from other people.


“I wanna do something unique so what you get from work time is something unique, whatever that means to you.


“You know, the next album I do, you are not gonna hear Adam Lambert, Christina Aguilera, Pink. If you actually put all those songs together, not one of them sounds anything remotely like each other. You know, that’s what I do. I will give you something unique.”

Linda’s song ‘Lift Me Up’ is on Christina Aguilera’s forthcoming album ‘Bionic’.

Britney Spears is now in her second year of promoting Candie’s, available only at Kohl’s department stores. Complete with iconic photo shoots and even a music video featuring Candie’s looks, Spears is taking her spokesperson duties to the next level. She’s going to be designing her own line of clothes for Candie’s.

Spears announced on Thursday that she would be designing a limited edition collection for the brand. She currently shot the photos for the campaign for the line, titled “Britney for Candie’s” .

“At my photo shoot for the limited edition collection I designed for Candie’s!

Spears tweeted. “I think you guys will love it!!!”

It’s Britney’s first time acting as designer for her own fashion line. She joins the ranks of other pop stars currently in the fashion design business, like Gwen Stefani, Hilary Duff, and Justin Timberlake. She had previously expressed interest in the fashion business

“If I had the right team around me, definitely,” she told OK Magazine in response to the question if she saw herself getting into fashion design. “We’re looking into it, it could happen. Probably women’s clothes first and then go into children’s.”

The “Britney for Candie’s” line is expected to hit Kohl’s department stores and online in July.
