20th Century Fox has provided ComingSoon.net with new photos from James Cameron’s Avatar, for which the first trailer should be online on Thursday morning! Opening in theaters on December 18, the sci-fi action-adventure stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Rodriguez, Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Peter Mensah, Laz Alonso, Wes Studi, Stephen Lang and Matt Gerald.

James Cameron’s “Avatar” trailer is scheduled to appear online on August 21st and to hold you over we now have a shot of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) with his avatar in the background. Check out the photo below.

Plot: An ex-Marine finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people.

The new 3-D movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 18th.
