“Arts for Africa” Gala Dinner@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Archie is no stranger to charitable causes just earlier this month she hosted Pratham’s annual tri-state gala in New York. The event succeeded in raising $1.1 million for children in India. Now, just a couple of days ago Archie attended the Arts for Africa gala dinner. On this occasion Archie looks especially stunning in a shiny orange dress. Thanks to the absolutely fantastic Claudia who runs www.margulies-fan.com I have been able to add 17 high quality images of the events to the gallery. Have a look at the lovely pics and don’t forget to catch The Good Wife tonight.

“The Death Zone” Caps Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Screencaps of yesterday’s episode of The Good Wife have been added to the gallery. Still no warming of the ice in sight as far as Alicia and Kalinda are concerned but that just means that Kalinda gets to spend some time with Eli which is fine by me. You can find the press release for next Sunday’s episode below or watch a 20 second video promo on youtube.

“Get A Room” – Alicia and Will go toe-to-toe with his ex during a court-ordered mediation, while Eli and Diane clash over the best way to handle a dairy company’s PR disaster, on “THE GOOD WIFE,” Sunday, Oct. 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Lisa Edelstein (“House”) guest stars as Celeste Serrano, Will’s ex and opposing council.

The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection & NewNowNext Nomination

Earlier this week Archie took part in 2011 Fashion Show. Images of the event have been added to the gallery. Thank you so much to Matt for donating high quality versions. Archie looked absolutely stunning in her red dress. Apparently Matt Czuchry was in the audience to support Archie. It’s refreshing that The Good Wife cast really seem to enjoy working with each other.

“The Happiness Salesman” Captures

Some of you are probably aware that Archie (along with Christopher Eccelstone) was part of a short film entitled “The Happiness Salesman”. For a long time little information was available and there was no way of seeing the film. Well, all of that is in the past now. BBC Wales showed the short film as part of their Halloween programming on 31 October. If you are in the UK you can watch The Happiness Salesman on the BBC iplayer.

It’s a nice little film although having seen it now, I can understand why it was shown on Halloween. Archie is fantastic in it. Here is how the BBC describes it:

Karen is resigned to a life of surburban ennui, the dreams of her youth a distant memory. On an autumn afternoon as she struggles to get her baby to sleep she is disturbed by a door-to-door salesman. Desperate for adult companionship she engages with the enigmatic salesman. He claims he can sell her something that will radically change her life, and offers Karen an opportunity to fulfil long forgotten dreams and ambitions. But is Karen prepared to pay the price?

TGW 2×01 “Taking Control” Media

As of last night The Good Wife is finally back on CBS with all new episodes and if the premiere episode is anything to go by it will be another fantastic season. “Taking Control” started us right off adding more questions to the seemingly endless list of things we don’t know about Kalinda (if that is her name).

Screen captures
as well as four video clips of the episode have been added to the site. Archie recently talked to the people over at TVSquad.Com about what’s coming up for Kalinda in the second season. Read what she said below:

“I think [her reserved nature] is probably due to the fact she has had a very hard upbringing, and she has suffered a lot, and she doesn’t trust people,” Panjabi said. “So, she is very cautious in what she says and the facial expressions that she has. She is very cautious what that reveals as well.”

As far as her loyalties, Panjabi couldn’t even say she knew what they were. “I thought I did at the end of season 1, but having looked at some of the stuff in season 2, I am even more confused about her.

New Layout & WSJ Interview

As you can see I have finally managed to put up a new layout. Archie Panjabi Central is now displaying its third look. Compared to the previous theme this one is much more low-key, more understated quiet elegance. I really like the blue and reds/oranges. The color scheme feels right for this season. I’m still working out some minor kinks (especially in FireFox). Let me know if anything’s not working. The layout is based on a theme designed by the lovely Natalie who runs 2n-design.org.

Joanne Kaufman of the Wallstreet Journal’s culture and arts section met up with Archie (after a few difficulties) to discuss her Emmy win and the role for which she won the award. Touching (of course) on the subject of Kalinda’s magic boots and her mysterious character.

“Normally as an actor you go in with a very clear idea of your character, and here I was really being challenged,” said Ms. Panjabi. “But I got off on the fact that Kalinda didn’t really make sense to me, and every day I was thinking ‘what’s going on in her mind?’ Now, I get her. She’s very special to me.”

Still, Ms. Panjabi wasn’t so sure viewers would share her fondness. “I worried they wouldn’t take to Kalinda because she’s quite hard and reserved,” she said. “But people have told me they want someone like her in their life as a friend to guide and protect them. It’s kind of like she’s a mother figure.”

Kalinda has also become something of a touchstone for the woman who embodies her so memorably. “She strips out a lot of the emotions and thinks ‘let’s be practical here, let’s be logical,” said Ms. Panjabi. “Sometimes I’ll be in a situation where I have to make a decision and I’ll try to think like my character.

“I really think we should have signs saying ‘What would Kalinda do? [MORE]

Archie Wins An Emmy!

Congratulations to Archie for winning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for playing Kalinda on The Good Wife. It’s such a deserved win. Archie was up against Christine Baranski, Rose Byrne of Damages, Sharon Gless of Burn Notice, and Christina Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss of Mad Men.

“Working on The Good Wife for me is like a dream come true.”, Archie said in her acceptance speech. She also took the time to thank Angelina Jolie, with whom she worked on A Mighty Heart. So far I have only been able to add 45 images to the gallery but more will be added over the course og the day. I will also try to get a video of her acceptance speech and red carpet interviews for you.

Emmy Gift Lounge Pictures@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Archie is already in Los Angeles getting ready for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards tonight. Yesterday, she visited the GBK Gift Lounge In Honor Of The 2010 Emmy Nominees And Presenters and the HBO Luxury Lounge in Beverly Hills. I have added eleven pictures of the two events to the gallery. Alan Cumming was there as well but I couldn’t find any pictures of the two of them.
Now an interesting fact: According to FayObserver.Com, If Archie wins tonight she’ll be the first person of Asian descent to win in the Supporting Actress in a Drama category.

TV Guide Scan

Archie is featured in this week’s issue of TV Guide. It is only one page and the article is accompanied by an old photo shoot picture (sadly they did not do a fresh and exciting shoot) but it is Archie in a magazine! So yay!! Thanks so much to Collen for scanning the page for us.

“Unplugged” Media added.

I have added caps and clips of Tuesday’s The Good Wife episode 1×21 “Unplugged” to the gallery and video archive. It was a fantastic episode not just for Kalinda – although the Kalinda stuff was awesome. There were wonderful scenes between Alicia and Kalinda – I love how Kalinda takes care of Alicia. And of course, there was Kalinda and her detective. I’m not sure I like him but watching Kalinda’s reaction to him was really interesting. I’m wondering whether her relationship will be explored further before the season ends. I can’t help but hope that it is Lana Delaney (Jill Flint), who we will see again in episodes 22 and 23 according to imdb (yay). Also, just once again, how brilliant is Alan Cumming’s Eli Gold? Here’s a preview of next week’s episode “Hybristophilia”:

“Hybristophilia” – Eli Gold works on getting Peter’s charges dropped, and Alicia defends Colin Sweeney, (Dylan Baker, “Ugly Betty”), a client and accused wife killer, who claims self defense after she finds him handcuffed to a dead woman, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday, May 18

“Mock” Media added.

I have added around 200 screen captures as well as three video clips of last night’s The Good Wife episode 1×20: “Mock” to the gallery and video archive respectively. It was another fantastic episode. I love how the storyline explored Kalinda’s attitude towards immigration and her (lack of) cultural identity. I also really like the playful relationship that’s playing out between Carry and Kalinda. Only three more episodes to go this season.

Gallery Update

Thanks to Matt and his brilliant friend Toolkit, who sent me some lovely high quality pictures, I was able to add more images of Archie at the An Evening With The Good Wife event to the gallery. The Infidel premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City two days ago. Images of Archie attending the premiere have been added to the gallery as well. And lastly I have added three new episode stills for an upcoming episode of The Good Wife.

An Evening With The Good Wife

Most of the cast and crew of The Good Wife attended last night’s An Evening With The Good Wife held at the Paley Center in New York. Archie was there and so were Julianna Margulies, Josh Charles and Matt Czuchry. I have added a few first images of the event to the gallery – hopefully more will be available soon.

I have also added a wonderful video of Archie on the panel of the World Video Awards, that Matt has sent me a while ago. It’s a lovely video. Seeing Archie discuss different movies is a lot of fun.

Talking to the New York Post show creator Michelle King gave away a few details of the show’s upcoming finale:

Another chapter will look at her relationship with the show’s pet snake, Kalinda Sharma, played to shady perfection by Archie Panjabi.

King says in one episode, Alicia will probe to find out who Kalinda — who’s so expert at getting into everyone else’s business, from murder suspects to judges — really is.

The Mascara Queen is also going to see her sexual switchboard light up with calls from both sexes.

On set Pictures, Videos & Reviews

Reviews for Archie’s upcoming film “The Infidel” are coming in. So far reactions seem to be quite positive. With The Guarding saying: The comedy is knockabout, but the sheer tactlessness is part of what makes it funny. And This Is London proclaiming: “The Infidel will be the summer’s funniest film.”

Thanks so much to Matt for pointing out that the CBS website has been updated with three new videos featuring Archie. They are behind the scenes type of things with Archie and the show’s creators talking about the character. I love hearing Archie’s actual accent in the interview. Watching The Good Wife I completely forget she has one. You can find the videos here, here and here.

Archie and James Carpinello filmed scenes for what must be one of the last episodes of TGW in the streets of New York three days ago. Images have been added to the gallery.

Doubt Media Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Screencaptures of episode 1×18: “Doubt” as well as five clips have been added to the gallery and video archive respectively. It was a nice episode – finally some more Kalinda time. I loved the scene where she goes to open that coach’s locker identifying herself as “Kalinda”. Sadly there won’t be any new episodes of The Good Wife for at least another two weeks.
Archie did a telephone interview with USA Today here’s a little bit of what she had to say:

At the end of a long day on set, Panjabi, who is married to businessman Raj Nihalani, enjoys “simply relaxing with a candle and a book. Simple things are so important because I think in this industry, I’m learning it’s like being part of a bubble — I call it The Good Wife bubble, where everything is about the job” — shooting scenes, doing interviews, learning lines.

As for the show’s upcoming hiatus, “if the appropriate project doesn’t come along, I’m not afraid to take that break,” she says

The article also offers a bit of insight into Archie’s involvement with the Women Of The World Summit

Does she keep in touch with Jolie? “I do,” she says. Because of her friend, Panjabi participated in a recent reading with Meryl Streep in New York of the documentary play Seven, about women’s struggles for justice and freedom.

“One of the characters I was reading was a woman whom (Jolie) had mentioned to me,” Panjabi says. “She’s been a huge inspiration to me in terms of the work that she does. And just the way she is with people. She’s incredibly grounded, very down to earth. And it’s a good influence on me now that I’m starting to gain recognition.”
