Asia attended the MTV Europe Music Awards in Berlin, Germany, this Thursday night – looking fantastic as usual.

She wore an asymmetrical Sophia Kokosalaki Fall 2009 black and gold beaded dress.

Asia Argento attended the John Richmond show as part of Milan Womenswear Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010 this Sunday in Milan. Wearing a sheath dress designed by John Richmond himself, Asia said that she loves the stylist’s creations for their “musicality”.

PS: I’ve already received several submissions to the Fan Q&A for both Asia Argento and her mother, actress Daria Nicolodi, that I hope to be able to forward to Asia very soon. So don’t be shy and submit your questions while there’s still time. Don’t try to think too much. The Cannes Film Festival has finally started. Isabelle Huppert, the president of the jury at this year’s Cannes film festival and the members of the jury have just posed for the Jury Photo Call. Asia was looking absolutely divine! It seems like these months at home, surrounded by the ones she loves, running a radio show with music she loves, and starting to write a new directorial project that’s close to her heart, did wonders for her.
And I have to express my admiration for Isabelle Huppert, a talented actress, who will certainly know how to handle the pressure of choosing a winner and manage the fights and egos. She wisely said: “Perhaps one year we shouldn’t tell the jury who made the films they are watching. Cover their eyes and ears for 10 days.” To her, Cannes is about waiting for the great surprise, the anonymous masterpiece. “Something you least expect. That curiosity and openness, I don’t think Cannes could be any other way. It’s a place that celebrates the intrinsic value of film.”
She hopes Cannes will surprise her. But how do you judge a film? “I don’t think we’re there to judge, we’re there to love films,” she says of the jury. “And that’s the problem. What do we do if we love them all?” She admits the choice of a winning film is totally subjective, and is troubled by the fact that some great films never won prizes. “And how many times have you heard someone say, ‘I really liked that film at that moment in time but I just watched it again and it wasn’t up to it’?” She worries about choosing a winner at Cannes that’s not just good for now but for always. I wish her and the members of the jury much wisdom and good luck with this tough task.

Asia Argento is already in Cannes! She arrived at the Nice-Côte d’Azur Airport earlier today, in company of her husband Michele Civetta and their baby boy Nicola.

The Cannes Film Festival starts this Wednesday. The Italian actress, director and screenwriter is a member of the jury at the prestigious film festival.

Asia Argento, resplendent and radiant, distant from the dark tones that made her famous, appeared on Chiambretti Night (an Italian TV Show) on February 4th 2009. It’s the first appearance since the birth of her second child, Nicola Giovanni. (Not really, there was the Rome Film Festival before… Unless they meant TV appearance…) The actress talked about her marriage with Michele Civetta (“it’s impossible to find pictures of him out and about”), admits that she sings the Beatles to her children, is removing all her tattoos and is ready to return to the cinema.

Thanks to the always helpful Audrey for letting us know that the first French trailer for “Diamant 13″ is now available for viewing on Allociné.fr. I had previously posted about the teaser trailer. I’ve added screencaps from the trailer and a couple of new stills. It seems like Asia was dubbed which is a pity. “Diamant 13″ premieres on January 21, 2009 in French cinemas.

This time around, unlike what happened in the French teaser trailer, Ms Argento isn’t in just one single “blink and you’ll miss it” kind of scene. And we certainly appreciate it! Fun fact: look for a pic from this specific editorial in the scene where Aïssa Maïga’s character is looking at a photo of Calhoune on the wall.

Celebrities such as the former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, Asia Argento, Luisa Ranieri, Anna Falchi, greeted the opening of the first Cavalli Club (yes, Roberto Cavalli, the fashion designer), located in an old deconsecrated Anglican church adjacent to the basilica del Carmine, where Masaccio’s fresco paintings (don’t know who he is? then let me share his Wikipedia page with you) are preserved. A polyfunctional place, projected by the architect Italo Rota, that is at the same time a bar, a restaurant, a place for shows, a nightclub.

It seems like it was raining in Florence. It made me think about the torrential rain that’s been hitting Italy, with the heaviest rains in more than a century flooding cities up and down the peninsula, drowning Venice’s St. Mark’s Square and Rome’s cobbled medieval streets. We can only hope (and pray if you’re a believer) the bad weather gives the country a break and don’t cause more deaths and disasters.
