Following the digital release of “Hold It Against Me” on Monday, 1/10/11, Britney Spears shatters all previous records for the most number of spins for a first or one-day at both Mediabase and BDS, according to one of the radio industry’s top analysts Kevin McCabe, founding principal of Musicrunch.
“Top 40 outlets across the country immediately put ‘Hold It Against Me’ in rotation and received instant-reaction airplay at America’s most-influential stations including Z100 and WXRK in New York and KIIS and KAMP in Los Angeles,” states McCabe.
Sharon Dastur, program director for New York’s Z100, one of the top influential pop radio stations in the country says, “Ever since we played it yesterday, the reaction has been phenomenal. The audience loves it!”
In addition to the overwhelming fan response at radio, the sales story is also impressive; in less than a day of its release, “Hold It Against Me” is the #1 Song on iTunes.
Britney had 619 spins at Mediabase in what was only a partial day of spins for Monday, 1/10/11. At BDS, Britney had 595 first or one-day spins – also on a partial day’s worth of airplay. Britney’s big one-day powered her onto the BDS one-day building chart at 16* and perhaps even more impressive was her audience debut at 7*.
As expected, Spears is also a trending topic on twitter worldwide.

“Hold it Against Me” is prime Britney, packed with aggressive electro jitters, a Euro-cheese riff that’s strangely close to AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” and a weird breakdown where Brit moans, blows kisses, and snaps her gum. The first single from her upcoming seventh album, the song (co-produced by Max Martin and Dr. Luke) recalls the synth-gloom ambience of Britney’s 2007 gem, Blackout, possibly the most influential pop album of the last five years. The horny lyrics head toward Austin Powers/Benny Hill territory: “If I said I want your body now/ Would you hold it against me?” It isn’t hard to hear a tinge of desperation in Brit’s digitally processed growl, especially in the line “You feel like paradise and I need a vacation tonight.” But even so, “Hold it Against Me” promises great things for her album, aside from the overall jaw-drop factor that Britney has hung in there to make a seventh album at all.”

Linda Perry respects Britney Spears even though she “can’t stand” her music.
The songwriter – who has worked with artists as diverse as Pink, Christina Aguilera and Courtney Love – admires ’3′ singer Britney because she “believes what she is doing”.
Linda said: “You know, Britney Spears, I can’t stand her music. But you know what, right on for her, great for her, that girl is selling it because she believes it. You know? She believes what she is doing. If you can do something and believe what you are doing, we should be patted on the back, not being insulted because we don’t like what you did.”

Former 4 Non Blondes singer Linda also said she’s not interested in writing hits for artists, preferring to concentrate on getting people to sing from their hearts.
She added to Blast magazine: “To me, something meaningful and heartfelt or real isn’t a hit. It is not always a hit. It’s just, ‘Let’s do something cool. Let’s do something real.’ I don’t wanna waste my time with all this bulls**t that you can get from other people.
“I wanna do something unique so what you get from work time is something unique, whatever that means to you.
“You know, the next album I do, you are not gonna hear Adam Lambert, Christina Aguilera, Pink. If you actually put all those songs together, not one of them sounds anything remotely like each other. You know, that’s what I do. I will give you something unique.”
Linda’s song ‘Lift Me Up’ is on Christina Aguilera’s forthcoming album ‘Bionic’.

Britney Spears is now in her second year of promoting Candie’s, available only at Kohl’s department stores. Complete with iconic photo shoots and even a music video featuring Candie’s looks, Spears is taking her spokesperson duties to the next level. She’s going to be designing her own line of clothes for Candie’s.
Spears announced on Thursday that she would be designing a limited edition collection for the brand. She currently shot the photos for the campaign for the line, titled “Britney for Candie’s” .
“At my photo shoot for the limited edition collection I designed for Candie’s!
Spears tweeted. “I think you guys will love it!!!”
It’s Britney’s first time acting as designer for her own fashion line. She joins the ranks of other pop stars currently in the fashion design business, like Gwen Stefani, Hilary Duff, and Justin Timberlake. She had previously expressed interest in the fashion business
“If I had the right team around me, definitely,” she told OK Magazine in response to the question if she saw herself getting into fashion design. “We’re looking into it, it could happen. Probably women’s clothes first and then go into children’s.”
The “Britney for Candie’s” line is expected to hit Kohl’s department stores and online in July.
