The Escapist, limited release in the US

As of April 3rd, The Escapist has been released in limited theatres in New York. Also available On demand at Comcast as of April 1st. It will be released in Los Angeles on April 10th and in Portland, OR  on May 8th. Keep your eye on damianlewisweb.com for the latest news and reviews of The Escapist.

Starring Brain Cox, Joseph Fiennes, Liam Cunningham, Seu Jorge, Dominic Cooper, Steven Mackintosh and Damian Lewis. The Escapist tells the story of Frank Perry, an institutionalized convict twelve years into a life sentence without parole. When his estranged daughter falls ill, he is determined he make peace with her before it’s too late. He develops an ingenious escape plan, and recruits a dysfunctional band of escapists – misfits with a mutual dislike for one other but united by their desire to escape their hell hole of an existence. Much of the action takes place within the tunnels, sewers and underground rivers of subterranean London.

The observer

The Escapist, a compelling, carefully written and totally gripping film from the U.K

I also particularly liked Damian Lewis as the chilly Rizza. Lewis, so entertaining as Det. Charlie Crews on TV’s “Life,” here is the picture of calm menace: no hair out of place, prison uniform immaculately pressed – a man in control until forced to confront the reality of his situation.

Be sure to watch Life tonight!

Get the latest on the NBC tv show Life over at Damian Lewis Web. Be sure to watch Damian on Life tonight at 9pm on NBC. Life needs all the viewers it can get!

Life is featured today on TV Worth Watching:

Damian Lewis, who was dazzling in imported British dramas before dropping his accent to play Charlie Crews on Life, is a genuine-article TV star here. His character is given a compelling back story — a cop framed for murder, who served many years in prison and in solitary before being exonerated, reinstated, and compensated with a small fortune. His years of confinement have left him different: zenlike in some ways, quietly intense in others, and addicted to the one thing he couldn’t get in prison. Fresh fruit.
