Few knew her name when she was cast as James Bond’s latest female foil in the 2008 film “Quantum of Solace”, but the role of Strawberry Fields was about to launch Gemma Arterton’s career in to the stratosphere.
A graduate of RADA and a regular with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Gemma had only just made her first big screen appearance in “St. Trinian’s” when she was beckoned by director Marc Forster for a screen test. The rest, as they say, is history. After bedding Bond and coming to a sticky end, Gemma’s character won the hearts of fans as a throw-back to the classic style of Ian Fleming’s heroines.

Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner on the set of “Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters”, a 3D animated comedy-action movie based on the famous fairytale ‘Hansel & Gretel’ from Brothers Grimm, in Braunschweig, Germany on Wednesday, March 31st, 2011.
If you were expecting a kiddie tale being remade for 2011 you are wrong. This tale catches up with Hansel and Gretel 15 years after their incident involving a gingerbread house. The brother and sister duo are now all grown up and have evolved into bounty hunters who hunt witches.
The film also stars Peter Stormare, Famke Janssen and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal.

Film star to G-Star: Behind the scenes at Gemma Arterton’s first fashion campaign |

She’s regularly seen in the front row at fashion shows, and is courted by all the top designers. So it is surprising that Gemma Arterton’s campaign for G-Star Raw is her first.
But it has been worth the wait, as the actress, 25, looks every inch the star in behind-the-scenes photographs from the denim brand’s latest shoot.

Gemma Arterton @ 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards |
Gemma Arterton looked picture perfect in a black strapless YSL gown at 2011 Orange British Academy Film Awards at The Royal Opera House, London on February 13.
The 25-year-old Prince of Persia star braved the cold and wet night in her trailing dress that was adorned with an oversized blue bow on waist.
She accessorized with black peep-toe heels, a sparkling black pocketbook handbag and a cocktail ring on her left hand.
Her long wavy brown hair, styled with a middle parting, framed her face. Bold red lipstick accentuated her regal look for the evening.
Gemma was a nominee for BAFTA Rising Star award along with Andrew Garfied, Tom Hardy, Aaron Johnson and Emma Stone. The Award went to the Inception star Tom Hardy.
The ex-Bond girl is currently filming for Barry Sonnenfeld’s Men in Black III. The film is scheduled for a May 25, 2012 release.
Two other favorite actresses of mine, Claire Foy and Eva Green (former Bond girl and Orange Wednesdays Rising Star winner), were also present, among many other talented thespians.
I’m terribly busy with offline life, but did my best to offer you all a full BAFTAs coverage. Updates will probably be scarce for a while, unless Stef or Mata help me.

Gemma Arterton – Hottest Actress Award from Total Film magazine & New Projects |

Gemma Arterton was chosen the Hottest Actress of the year by Total Film magazine and talked exclusively about her upcoming projects!
“Thank you so much for this award. I’m very flattered and thrilled — I saw the shortlist, so I know I was in good company. This year’s been intense, but next year’s going to be… intenser! [Laughs] I’m attached to about nine projects but I’m not sure which one I am allowed to talk about… but I’m aiming for even more diversity. Capa [biopic about combat photographer Robert Capa] is confirmed, so I should be working with Andrew Garfield! [Garfield will play Capa, Arterton his partner, Gerda Taro, the first female photojournalist to cover a war front line] and there’s Clash of the Titans 2… And hopefully I’ll be working with Michael Winterbottom on London Fields and then there’s… no, I’d better stop. You’ll get me into trouble! Thanks for the award!”
