New Layout & WSJ Interview

As you can see I have finally managed to put up a new layout. Archie Panjabi Central is now displaying its third look. Compared to the previous theme this one is much more low-key, more understated quiet elegance. I really like the blue and reds/oranges. The color scheme feels right for this season. I’m still working out some minor kinks (especially in FireFox). Let me know if anything’s not working. The layout is based on a theme designed by the lovely Natalie who runs 2n-design.org.

Joanne Kaufman of the Wallstreet Journal’s culture and arts section met up with Archie (after a few difficulties) to discuss her Emmy win and the role for which she won the award. Touching (of course) on the subject of Kalinda’s magic boots and her mysterious character.

“Normally as an actor you go in with a very clear idea of your character, and here I was really being challenged,” said Ms. Panjabi. “But I got off on the fact that Kalinda didn’t really make sense to me, and every day I was thinking ‘what’s going on in her mind?’ Now, I get her. She’s very special to me.”

Still, Ms. Panjabi wasn’t so sure viewers would share her fondness. “I worried they wouldn’t take to Kalinda because she’s quite hard and reserved,” she said. “But people have told me they want someone like her in their life as a friend to guide and protect them. It’s kind of like she’s a mother figure.”

Kalinda has also become something of a touchstone for the woman who embodies her so memorably. “She strips out a lot of the emotions and thinks ‘let’s be practical here, let’s be logical,” said Ms. Panjabi. “Sometimes I’ll be in a situation where I have to make a decision and I’ll try to think like my character.

“I really think we should have signs saying ‘What would Kalinda do? [MORE]

“Unplugged” Media added.

I have added caps and clips of Tuesday’s The Good Wife episode 1×21 “Unplugged” to the gallery and video archive. It was a fantastic episode not just for Kalinda – although the Kalinda stuff was awesome. There were wonderful scenes between Alicia and Kalinda – I love how Kalinda takes care of Alicia. And of course, there was Kalinda and her detective. I’m not sure I like him but watching Kalinda’s reaction to him was really interesting. I’m wondering whether her relationship will be explored further before the season ends. I can’t help but hope that it is Lana Delaney (Jill Flint), who we will see again in episodes 22 and 23 according to imdb (yay). Also, just once again, how brilliant is Alan Cumming’s Eli Gold? Here’s a preview of next week’s episode “Hybristophilia”:

“Hybristophilia” – Eli Gold works on getting Peter’s charges dropped, and Alicia defends Colin Sweeney, (Dylan Baker, “Ugly Betty”), a client and accused wife killer, who claims self defense after she finds him handcuffed to a dead woman, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday, May 18

“Mock” Media added.

I have added around 200 screen captures as well as three video clips of last night’s The Good Wife episode 1×20: “Mock” to the gallery and video archive respectively. It was another fantastic episode. I love how the storyline explored Kalinda’s attitude towards immigration and her (lack of) cultural identity. I also really like the playful relationship that’s playing out between Carry and Kalinda. Only three more episodes to go this season.

On set Pictures, Videos & Reviews

Reviews for Archie’s upcoming film “The Infidel” are coming in. So far reactions seem to be quite positive. With The Guarding saying: The comedy is knockabout, but the sheer tactlessness is part of what makes it funny. And This Is London proclaiming: “The Infidel will be the summer’s funniest film.”

Thanks so much to Matt for pointing out that the CBS website has been updated with three new videos featuring Archie. They are behind the scenes type of things with Archie and the show’s creators talking about the character. I love hearing Archie’s actual accent in the interview. Watching The Good Wife I completely forget she has one. You can find the videos here, here and here.

Archie and James Carpinello filmed scenes for what must be one of the last episodes of TGW in the streets of New York three days ago. Images have been added to the gallery.

Doubt Media Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Screencaptures of episode 1×18: “Doubt” as well as five clips have been added to the gallery and video archive respectively. It was a nice episode – finally some more Kalinda time. I loved the scene where she goes to open that coach’s locker identifying herself as “Kalinda”. Sadly there won’t be any new episodes of The Good Wife for at least another two weeks.
Archie did a telephone interview with USA Today here’s a little bit of what she had to say:

At the end of a long day on set, Panjabi, who is married to businessman Raj Nihalani, enjoys “simply relaxing with a candle and a book. Simple things are so important because I think in this industry, I’m learning it’s like being part of a bubble — I call it The Good Wife bubble, where everything is about the job” — shooting scenes, doing interviews, learning lines.

As for the show’s upcoming hiatus, “if the appropriate project doesn’t come along, I’m not afraid to take that break,” she says

The article also offers a bit of insight into Archie’s involvement with the Women Of The World Summit

Does she keep in touch with Jolie? “I do,” she says. Because of her friend, Panjabi participated in a recent reading with Meryl Streep in New York of the documentary play Seven, about women’s struggles for justice and freedom.

“One of the characters I was reading was a woman whom (Jolie) had mentioned to me,” Panjabi says. “She’s been a huge inspiration to me in terms of the work that she does. And just the way she is with people. She’s incredibly grounded, very down to earth. And it’s a good influence on me now that I’m starting to gain recognition.”

“Heart” Media Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

I have finally gotten around to adding screen captures and two videos from last week’s The Good Wife episode 1×17: “Heart” to the site. There wasn’t a lot of Kalinda but her scene with Will was absolutely brilliant.
Sadly though, there won’t be any new episodes until April 6 when the show returns with “Doubt”:

Alicia and Will defend a college student (Bianca Stark) accused of killing her sorority sister while under the influence of a sleep aid. At the same time, they also deal with their growing sexual tension and Diane and Kurt McVeigh continue their flirtation, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday, April 6

The Paley Center for Media is holding An Evening with The Good Wife. As of now Julianna Margulies is the only cast member that has been announced as in attendance for the March 31 event. Lets hope Archie and the rest of the cast go too. Tickets can be obtained through the Paley Center website

“Flea” Caps Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

I am not usually give to hyperbole so what I am about to say next can be take for full: Yesterday’s The Good Wife episode was just absolutely brilliant. Entertaining as hell. There were so many funny moments it is almost impossible for me to remember them all which is a damn shame. But here are a few things I enjoyed about the episode: Will’s Chicago defense was just priceless. I like seeing him in court. Alan Cumming was even better in this episode than in last week’s. He is perfectly cast as Eli Gold. All his wonderful scenes in “Fleas” makes me ache even more for him and Kalinda to meet some time.
Here’s a preview of next week’s episode:

“Heart” – In an emergency courtroom set up in a hospital, Alicia and Will battle Patti Nyholm (Martha Plimpton) and an insurance company that refuses to pay for life-saving in-utero surgery. Meanwhile, Alicia gives Peter a proper welcome home, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday, March 16

“Hi” Clips & Interview & Preview

First things first: Five clips of episode 1×14 “HI” have been added to the video archive including ,of course, the awesome trail scene. Archie talked to the New York Post telling some really sweet anecdotes about filming The Good Wife .
When they’re not filming a scene, the two actors do improv skits where they play two British girls in a pub.
“She’s so good at the accents, it just makes me cry with laughter. My makeup runs,” Panjabi says. “The accent changes up north. Becomes deeper. We improvise. Even the crew gets distracted.”

The Good Wife will return to CBS with new episodes on Tuesday March 2. Episode 1×15 is entitled “Bang”. Alan Cumming will guest-star which will be great I’m sure. Here’s the description:

While Peter gets acclimated to life at home and works on a comeback strategy with his political team, including Eli Gold (Alan Cumming “Cabaret,” “The L Word”), Alicia and Diane wrestle with spousal privilege laws in a murder case that hinges on their ability to get a wife to testify against her husband, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday, March 2

“Hi” Captures Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Screen captures of last night’s The Good Wife episode “Hi” have been added to the gallery. I really enjoyed this episode. Lots of Kalinda and it was somehow fresher than usual – exploring new things. Kalinda’s testimony was really something so clever and subtle. And how awesome was that ending with Will and Diane and their proposal? The show just keeps getting more enjoyable. That’s why it’s so sad that there won’t be any new episodes for a while. I am not sure when the show will return with new ones but there will be reruns for at least the next two weeks.

“Bad” Videos Added.

Three clips of Tuesday’s episode “Bad” have been added to the video archive.
New York Magazine recently did a great little interview with Archie. Youi can read the whole interview here Here’s a little snippet:

Though I have to say, your work wardrobe is a little unbelievably sexy.
Kalinda’s style has certainly evolved. In the pilot, she actually wore jeans, but the costume designer wanted to get a little more of her personality tied up in her looks, so now her clothes are very fitted. Usually, if a character wears sexy clothes to feel confident, they get accused of being cheap or tacky. So I love that with Kalinda, we get a balance. She’s not dressing like that to seduce men; she feels like her clothes are in vogue, and she wants to wear them. And she’s not afraid of that.

It’s also interesting that it’s never addressed that you’re Indian.
Yeah, I really like that they’ve accepted me as an investigative attorney who dresses the way she does, and there’s never any mention about my race. She’s accepted for her job, and it’s quite nice that they haven’t tackled that. You don’t even know where I’m from, which is also quite interesting. I’m sure in time you’ll see a few cracks in the characters, you get a window into each of their lives, but just enough to continue to guess.

“Painkiller” Videos Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Four videos of this week’s The Good Wife episode 1×12 “Painkiller” have been added to the video archive. There was a lot to choose from this episode but I chose to focus on the really good and maybe somewhat more unique scenes. Meaning: The scene with Carry and Kalinda at the gym. Kalinda meeting Childs and being asked to work for him. Kalinda visiting Peter in jail – offering to double cross Childs. And last but not least Kalinda meeting Childs for a second time to report back to him.

The Good Wife: Painkiller Caps

I really really really enjoyed this week’s The Good Wife episode. The show really does keep getting better. So much Kalinda time in Painkiller. The gym scene, Kalinda with Peter, Kalinda with Childs, Kalinda being a good friend to Alicia, the creepy nanny…Lets hope the next episode (which will air on February 02) will be just as good if not better. Here’s the preview for 1×13 Bad:

Alicia defends a wealthy client in civil court whose innocence she doubts, even after he’s found not guilty in criminal court of murdering his wife while Diane decides to take precautions when a felon she successfully prosecuted is about to be released from prison, on THE GOOD WIFE Tuesday Feb. 2

“Infamy” Videos Added@Archie-Panjabi.Com

Three clips from last week’s The Good Wife episode 1×11 Infamy have been added to the video archive. Talking of videos there are two great videos highlighting the show’s innovative dialogue on youtube. Go check them out.
Now on to the disappointing news. The Good Wife lost out on the People’s Choice Awards to The Vampire Diaries but the show is still nominated for A WGA and a SAG award not to mention Julianna Margulies Golden Globe nomination.

The Good Wife Caps@Archie-Panjabi.Com

The Good Wife is back from its holiday hiatus and captures of yesterday’s episode 1×11 “Infamy” have been added to the gallery. Videos will probably follow tomorrow. I really liked the episode it was something else.
From now on it will be back to back episodes for a couple of weeks so the next episode “Painkillers” will air next week. Here’s the description:

When a star high school quarterback dies from an overdose of painkillers, Alicia represents the doctor who prescribed the medication. At home, Alicia and the kids deal with some bad news, and Peter receives information that makes his blood boil, on THE GOOD WIFE, Tuesday, Jan. 12

A still for the episode has been added to the gallery as well. You can view it by clicking here. Also today’s the day of the People’s Choice Awards and as we all know The Good Wife has been nominated as best new drama. So the best of luck to them.
