On March 28th, Vera Farmiga looked so pretty at “Source Code” Los Angeles Premiere at ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood. She wore a beautiful large black belt as a statement piece with her ensemble and strappy evening sandals with the sweet look. Vera’s hair was worn down in her signature side part. “Source Code” made it’s world premiere on Friday, March 11th to an enthusiastic crowd at Austin’s Paramount Theatre. The high octane thriller opened the annual SXSW Music, Film + Interactive Film Festival. Director Duncan Jones, screenwriter Ben Ripley, and actors Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Farmiga, and Michelle Monaghan were on hand to answer questions from the receptive audience after the screening.

The first trailer for Duncan Jones‘ Source Code has appeared online from Apple, and it’s definitely worth taking a look at. The trailer can be seen here as well the screen captures and the movie posters below!!

Synopsis: When decorated soldier Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man, he discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. In an assignment unlike any he’s ever known, he learns he’s part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With a second, much larger target threatening to kill millions in downtown Chicago, Colter re-lives the incident over and over again, gathering clues each time, until he can solve the mystery of who is behind the bombs and prevent the next attack. Filled with mind-boggling twists and heart-pounding suspense, Source Code is a smart action-thriller directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) also starring Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye, Due Date), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air, The Departed), and Jeffrey Wright (Quantum of Solace, Syriana).

Source Code will be released on March 11, 2011 (UK) and April 15, 2011 (US).

Very pregnant Vera Farmiga is attending the Toronto International Film Festival to promote the film Henry’s Crime and she is due to give birth to her second child in October. She was simply radiant in her expecting glow as she laughed and enjoyed herself along side co-stars Keanu Reeves and James Caan. A lot of pictures from the  Henry’s Crime press conference and portraits have been added to the gallery so be sure to check them out!

In the rom-com Henry’s Crime, Vera portrays an amateur actress and lottery ball girl that comes across a recently released prisoner portrayed by Reeves that is planning to rob a bank.  Reeves character has to join a play Vera’s character stars in to accomplish his heist.

Check out Vera as she truly does show that expectant mother shine from TIFF! More pictures will be posted next friday/saturday because I’m going on vacation!

Variety is reporting that Madonna is set to direct W.E., a biopic about the affair between King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson that led to the British royal abdicating from the throne to marry his divorcee lover.

Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) is in talks for the role of Simpson, who precipitated the most severe constitutional crisis in the English monarchy in the 20th century after Edward proposed to her, only months into his reign.

There is no word yet on who will play King Edward.

The King’s desire to marry a twice-divorced American with two living ex-husbands caused a constitutional crisis in the United Kingdom and the Dominions, which ultimately led to the King’s abdication in December 1936 to marry “the woman I love.”[3] After the abdication, the former king was created Duke of Windsor by his brother George VI. Edward married Wallis six months later, after which she was formally known as the Duchess of Windsor, without the style “Her Royal Highness.”

Madonna is writing the script with Alex Keshishian (Truth or Dare). Colin Vaines and David Parfitt are producing.

I am so pleased to announce that Vera Farmiga finally got her very first Academy Awards nomination in the category “Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture” for her dazzling performance as Alex Goran in Up In The Air. HUGE Congratulations Vera, you totally deserve it!!

Up In The Air also got 5 more nominations including: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress & Best Adapted Screenplay. Congratulations to all the Cast and Crew.

Up in the Air’s supporting actress nominee Vera Farmiga heard her Oscar nomination news in the best way possible, surrounded by her husband and son at their New York home. “We got the news in bed, the three of us cuddling,” says the actress.

Her day is going to be gloriously mundane: Playing Legos with her son, Fynn. “My husband says he’s going to build a mantel.  He’s a bit delusional, but very supportive,” says Farmiga. “This feels great. It’s a nice affirmation saying job well done. It’s nice to have the respect of your peers and industry and critics and everyone rooting for you. I’ve been going at this a long time. I feel like I’ve always had the critics encouraging me.”

She’s particularly thrilled for one of her fellow nominees: Crazy Heart’s surprise contender Maggie Gyllenhaal. “What a wonderful surprise and well deserved. She’s a good friend of mine,” says Farmiga, who’s also thrilled for her Up in the Air co-star Anna Kendrick.

And then, there’s the director, Jason Reitman. “I had all my faith in Jason, that he was going to tell a poignant and unique story. His work is saturated with social relevance. Everyone is aching for it and those sort of films need to be recognized,” says Farmiga.

Vera Farmiga attended the 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards held at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium on Saturday, January 23rd  looking tremendously beautiful and wearing a gorgeous gown by J. Mendel. She also finished off her look with a silver metal clutch and a pair of silver satin peep toe shoes all by Ferragamo.
